You Baffle Me

A personal psalm by Thomas Knowles, to the Exalted Jehovah. God of All; For He alone is worthy.

Father God, Creator of Heaven and Earth, hear my call to you

For I am lost, the very things I know, I do not know

Thoughts are no longer my thoughts, they are foreign to me

They are thine, for they are not my own, Why do you confuse me so?

Your wisdom is true wisdom; Who can know it?

You tease me with your brilliance and baffle me with your complexities

I cannot comprehend such Glory; Your Greatness is beyond imagination

As you look down from the Exalted place; man must seem so distant and so small

Why trouble yourself with matters so small; Why care about ones that are so lost?

Why reveal glimpses of Your Glory to my simple mind, Do I amuse You?

Maybe so, for patterns of You confound my mind; I feel lesser for dreaming of You

Yet you call me child; You the Great Jehovah treat me like a son

I am a man of unclean lips, impure thoughts; even my intentions must be reexamined

Your voice to my spirit is like the Greatest song played in a lowly place

It does not belong anywhere within my frame

Your Glorious note deserves a better place to dwell

Why did You create the floor? Why aren’t foundations lower?

For I cannot sink my body low enough to suitably worship Your Excellence

May You Oh God alone have the last word in all things

For only You truly matter; As for me, Your most insignificant slave

May I worship You from the distant place

Honored for the gift of serving the One True Glorious Jehovah

Amen.
