We carry 666 in our pockets

As I was reading Ephesians, the Holy Spirit led me to an interesting discovery.

Read Ephesians 2:2-3

2 Wherein in time past ye walked according to the course of this world, according to the prince of the power of the air, the spirit that now worketh in the children of disobedience: 3 Among whom also we all had our conversation in times past in the lusts of our flesh, fulfilling the desires of the flesh and of the mind; and were by nature the children of wrath, even as others.

Why would Paul write this to the church at Ephesus?

Ephesus, the most important Greek city in Ionian Asia Minor. Ancient Greek technology developed during the 5th century BC, continuing up to and including the Roman period, and beyond. Inventions that are credited to the ancient Greeks include the gear, screw, rotary mills, bronze casting techniques, water clock, water organ, the torsion catapult, the use of steam to operate some experimental machines...

Let's explore why Paul writes this cryptic message to the Church located in the most important and technologically advanced city in Ancient Greek.

These are the numbers assigned to letters of the Latin alphabet as follows

  • 1 = a, q, y, i, j.

  • 2 = b, r, k.

  • 3 = g, c, l, s.

  • 4 = d, m, t.

  • 5 = e, h, n, x.

  • 6 = u, v, W.

  • 7 = o, z.

  • 8 = f, p.

Next, I looked up the Letter W. W or w is the 23rd and fourth-to-last letter of the modern English and ISO basic Latin alphabets.

Hmm, There's something interesting about W and Ephesians 2 verses 2 and 3. We'll get back to that.

I then wondered how to calculate alphabets. I knew it could not be as simple as adding the numbers. I believed that in order to find the greater meaning one must look a little deeper. Focus on the definitions.

Definition of Addition

the action or process of adding something to something else. "the hotel has been extended with the addition of more rooms

"Similar: inclusion build join

These are clearly positive attributes.

Definition of Multiply

to make many or manifold; increase the number, quantity, etc.,

"Similar: to breed. to propagate

Definition of propagate transitive verb1: to cause to continue or increase by sexual or asexual reproduction 2: to pass along to offspring 3a: to cause to spread out and affect a greater number or greater area : b: to foster growing knowledge of, familiarity with, or acceptance of (something, such as an idea or belief) : PUBLICIZEc: to transmit (something, such as sound or light) through a medium

These are clearly dark attributes.

Hmm, any way you look at it:

W = 6 in Latin Alphabet

W = 23rd letter in the English Alphabet.

W = the 2nd & 3rd verse in Ephesians chapter 2.

Multiply it (propagate (transmit via a medium)) you get 2 x 3 = 6 or write it out in Latin you get 666.

In any way you do it, WWW = 666

The World Wide Web (WWW) is a combination of all resources and users on the Internet that are using the Hypertext Transfer Protocol (HTTP).

A broader definition comes from the World Wide Web Consortium (W3C):

"The World Wide Web is the universe of network-accessible information, an embodiment of human knowledge."

Again re-read Ephesians 2:2-3

2 Wherein in time past ye walked according to the course of this world, according to the prince of the power of the air, the spirit that now worketh in the children of disobedience: 3 Among whom also we all had our conversation in times past in the lusts of our flesh, fulfilling the desires of the flesh and of the mind; and were by nature the children of wrath, even as others.

For millenniums, Satan always attacks through deceitful, perverse information sharing; challenging God's word from the beginning. In Genesis 3:4 - Then the serpent said to the woman, “You surely will not die!" This is a direct affront to the word of God and an attempt to speak (clarify) God's direct word. Since that time, through the Age of Gnosticism, Age of Enlightenment to present day, Postmodernism, the evil one has moved stealthily into our lives to shape our thinking, beliefs, personalities, assumptions, relationships, habits, and much more. Today the internet provides the perfect medium to transmit his obvious lies and the not-so-obvious ones that on the surface appear ok.

We all know we cannot avoid the internet. However, we can use it to promote our faith, values, and to build up the Body of Christ. Remember to always be mindful and watchful,

1 Peter 4:7, "The end of all things is near. Therefore be alert and of sober mind so that you may pray.".

Be encouraged.
